Tamil films to release this week!

Every week, Kollywood sees new movies being made and released to entertain movie-goers. Last week saw six movies hitting the theatres, and some of them are still running well at the box office. Meanwhile, films from three different genres of movies – ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’, ‘Paramapadham Vilayttu‘ and ‘Draupathi’, are scheduled to be released this week. Here’s a look at what these films are about, and who will be the lead roles entertaining us.

'Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal'

‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ is a Tamil romantic drama, which marks the directorial debut of Desingh Periyasamy. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan and Ritu Varma in lead roles, while the music is scored by Masala Coffee, a noted Malayalam music bank. The film has been shot in various cities in India like Goa, Delhi, Kerala, and Chennai and the cinematography is handled by KM Bhaskaran. Dulquer Salmaan is back to Tamil cinema after two years. He was last seen in the Telugu-Tamil bilingual biographical film ‘Mahanati’, in which he played the role of late actor Gemini Ganesan.
‘Paramapadham Vilayttu’

'Paramapadham Vilayttu'

The release of actress Trisha’s 60th film ‘Paramapadham Vilayttu’ had been delayed but is finally locked to hit theatres this Friday. The political thriller is directed by K Thiru Gnanam, and the film also stars Manasvi and Vela Ramamoorthy in important roles. Amrish has scored the music for the film, while the cinematography and editing are handled by J Dinesh and Pradeep E Ragav respectively. The story of the film is based on true events and Trisha will be seen playing the role of a doctor who gets kidnapped. The film is bankrolled by 24 HRS Productions.


‘Draupathi’ is directed by G Mohan, and it marks the director’s second film after ‘Pazhaya Vannarapettai’, which starred Prajin and Ashmitha in lead roles. ‘Draupathi’ has been in the headlines over the last few weeks for its controversial content and references to caste system and political leaders. The film stars popular actor Ajith’s brother-in-law Richard Rishi and Sheela Rajkumar in lead roles, while Karunas, Nishanth, Soundarya and Lena will play pivotal roles. The movie is produced by the director himself under his banner GM Film corporation and reportedly the movie has been given 14 cuts by the Censor Board.
Meanwhile, Seven Tamil films are announced to be released for the next week on March 6.
