Pavail Gulati, who was last seen in Ghost Stories, is gearing up for his next, Thappad. The Anubhav Sinha directorial features him and Taapsee Pannu in the lead. The trailer of Thappad was hard-hitting and received rave responses from the masses. It wasn’t just about one slap from her husband, but about her self-respect. Pavail’s character, Vikram, gave a tight slap to Taapsee’s character and it ended everything between them. Recently, when we chatted with Pavail Gulati, he exclusively revealed to us how many takes it took him to slap Taapsee.
“I was very nervous and very hesitant. Do din pehle se hi, I was very hesitant about the scene. It took us 7 takes to do that because I was nervous, the camera angle needed to be correct. By the end of it, it took us 7 takes. I am sure Taapsee Pannu went through a lot more than I went through. She was a support and champion through all of it. She was the one who was keeping me calm through all of it. She was very okay,” he said.
Here are the entertainment newsmakers:
Ever since Thappad’s trailer released, there were comparisons made between Thappad and Kabir Singh. When asked if Thappad was a slap to a movie like Kabir Singh, he said, “I don’t think so. We did this film, not keeping that film in mind. It was Anubhav sir’s idea since a very long time. It is not an answer. They wanted to show what they wanted to, it was their understanding. We want to show what is our understanding. It has nothing to do with Kabir Singh.”
Similarly, Taapsee had told Mumbai Mirror, “But that’s not to say that Thappad is an answer to Kabir Singh. Only one line from its director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s interview has been used. The general impression is that bad guys get violent but seemingly good, loving men can also resort to violence because of conditioning.”
Thappad releases on February 28, 2020. Are you keen to watch it? Tweet to us at @bollywood_life and let us know.
